Clifton Street

Originally a workers' cottage, the clients of the Clifton Street project had already added an additional storey to their property. However, the initial renovation work undertaken had failed to deliver the level of finish and detail they were seeking. The clients commissioned a new project, hoping to open up the building to create more usable spaces and to bring the outside in. The clients were also seeking a more integrated overall look. The project involved the construction of a new bathroom, kitchen and breakfast space. The exterior of the building was also substantially changed: the rear of the house was opened up to a new courtyard space featuring a timber deck, plunge pool and an adjacent sandstone water feature. At the conclusion of the project, the clients felt that they had an elegant and clean space that also provided indoor and outdoor spaces that they and their kids could enjoy.
